East Hartford High School Band

High School Band will introduce students to intermediate and advanced playing skills, new musical styles and genres, and a diverse collection of musicians and composers.

Students will have the opportunity to work in a large group and create a team dynamic that helps them feel part of something bigger than themselves. By the end of the year, students will participate in multiple performances in the school and community.

High School Choir will introduce students to new styles of music from different genres, Intermediate and advance singing skills, and collaboration and teamwork.

Students will have the opportunity to sing in a large group setting and create meaningful experience. By the end of the year, students will participate in performance for the community as well as their peers.

East Hartford High School DJ'ing and Live Sound

DJ'ing & Live Sound will introduce students to study musical form and beats, how to loop music together, and set up and run a recording session.

Students will have the opportunity to get their hands on studio equipment that DJ's use today and create their own playlists that seamlessly loop together. By the end of the class, students will be able to program their own event and have opportunities to host live performances.

Guitar 1 & 2 will introduce students to beginner & intermediate playing skills, many musical styles, genres, and time periods, and a diverse collection of musicians and composers.

Students will have the opportunity to work individually and in small groups to learn how to listen to, respond, and create music. By the end of the semester, students will gain valuable problem solving skills and have a greater appreciation for music in general.

Music Production will introduce students to song structure and musical form, beat creation and rhythms in music, and sound effects in films.

Students will have the opportunity to learn how songs are created digitally without the use of live instruments. They will create multiple projects throughout the semester that will culminate in the creation of their own original composition.

High School Orchestra will introduce students to intermediate and advanced playing skills and classical, baroque, and modern genres.

Students will have the opportunity to work in a large and small group settings to create symphonic and chamber music. By the end of the year, students will participate in multiple performances in the school and community.

Video Production will introduce students to storyboarding techniques, how to film and edit videos, and roles in the business and engineering world.

Students will have the opportunity to get their hands on studio standard equipment and programs that the movies they watch right now are created on and by the end of the class, they will be creating and running their own video sessions.

East Hartford High School World Drumming

World Drumming will introduce students to West African drumming, Latin and Caribbean drumming, and Brazilian samba drumming, dance, and culture.

Students will have the opportunity to get their hands on djembes, bongos, congas, and samba drums to create and perform drum grooves from around the world. By the end of the class, students will be able to perform, create and respond to a variety of cultures and music through drumming.
